Klopp leaves 23-year-old on the bench, as ‘high-speed’ duo continues up-front: Liverpool predicted XI v Leeds

Liverpool bounced back from last weekend’s dismal defeat against Nottingham Forest with a resounding win over Ajax on Wednesday night.

Next up, they face a Leeds United side who have lost four on the spin and are without a win in nine Premier League games.

Under the lights at Anfield, Liverpool will be resounding favourites. But then again, they were against Forest as well. Look how that turned out.

Now 12 points off the Premier League summit, and five off a top-four spot, there’s no margin for error for Jurgen Klopp’s side. With Napoli to come on Tuesday night, here’s how we think Liverpool will line-up tomorrow.

Defence

Another clean sheet for Alisson Becker on Wednesday night as he reaffirmed his status as Liverpool’s outstanding performer this season. Another start beckons tomorrow.

In-front of him, we think Klopp will keep things the same. Yes, in-form Napoli head to Anfield on Tuesday, and Liverpool can still win the group. But their passage to last-16 is already secure. A few starters should be rested mid-week.

As a result, Ibrahima Konate will have to wait for his return to the side as Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk go again.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson should make up an unchanged back five.

Midfield

Klopp’s midfield options have been boosted by the timely return of Thiago Alcantara. Having missed the last two games with an ear infection, the Spaniard should come back for this one.

Jordan Henderson is likely to be fit but could drop out after taking a bit of a knock in Amsterdam.

This should leave Fabinho to be given another opportunity to play his way out of his current poor form.

Attack

Predicting who Klopp will select in attack has become an easier job since the injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

The boss spoke about trying out the ‘high-speed’ duo of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez after playing West Ham last week.

Klopp went with that partnership against Ajax, with both players getting on the scoresheet. The exciting looking duo should go again at Anfield.

Either side of them, we think Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho will get the nod again, with Roberto Firmino rested.
