The 30-year-old’s clipped finished towards the end of the first half sent Jurgen Klopp’s men back in for half-time with a fortunate lead after the Dutch giants failed to capitalise on two huge chances early on.

Returning to the pitch for the second half, the Reds picked up where they left off, with two quick goals from Darwin Nunez and Elliott easing the side to victory and Round of 16 qualification.

Having played a strong role on the right-hand side of the midfield, Elliott was full of praise for his attacking partner, happy to see the winger add a goal and an assist to his Champions League tally.
