Jurgen Klopp is ‘really excited’ after watching Darwin Nunez last night. The player scored the winner for Liverpool against West Ham.
Darwin Nunez put on a show for Liverpool as they beat West Ham United 1-0 at Anfield. The Uruguayan got the winner and could have had many more.
A sensational volley early on forced a save – a strike that could have been one of the goals of the season. Nunez then thundered one off the post later on, got the ball back, then fired a second shot towards the corner flag. But that’s just the Darwin Nunez experience.
Of course, the goal was the 23-year-old’s highlight. He met Kostas Tsimkas’s cross expertly to find the far corner, with what turned out to be the winner.
But there was just so much to love about Nunez here. His energy, his willingness to make runs for teammates, the way he’s just a magnet for chances. It was fantastic to see and Jurgen Klopp loved it, too.
“He was outstanding,” Klopp told the BBC after the game. “He is a massive talent and is only [23].
“He came from Portugal and he wasn’t there for long, so not too long away he was Uruguay. He is a really big talent and we’re really excited about him.”
Klopp loves watching Darwin Nunez
Nunez is now scoring with decent consistency and looking more and more like a Liverpool player. Certainly, the Reds weren’t as potent once he went off against West Ham.

And so it’ll be interesting to see how Klopp uses the player. He played centrally here with Mohamed Salah back out wide but the Egyptian wasn’t in the game as much as he could have been. Honestly, we’d still like to see them as a pairing.
But the main takeaway from the game was that Nunez can be unstoppable at his best. In fact, the only thing that ends up stopping him is an inability to finish consistently. Once he’s got that down, Liverpool will have a special player.
