Divock Origi is in the middle of a nightmare after leaving Liverpool for AC Milan. The Belgian has nothing going his way.

Divock Origi left Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, joining AC Milan. It was an emotional exit – the player enamoured himself to the Anfield crowd over a seven-year spell.

He left a legend, as a player who showed ‘exceptional’ quality at times, in the words of Jurgen Klopp. There was expectation, then, that Origi would truly show his ability once he got regular football somewhere else.

That was never going to happen with Liverpool, after all. Origi didn’t quite fit into the overall plan and games were few and far between – even when he wasn’t injured. Milan, though, offered new hope for his career and reputation.

Well, we’re now in mid-October and things could hardly be going worse for Origi. He’s yet to make a single start for Milan, playing a grand total of 158 minutes.

In other words, a little over a game and a half. That’s across eight appearances, too, meaning the most Origi has played in one game was the 45 minutes he got against Verona this weekend. Before that, it was the 33 minutes he played away at Salzburg in the Champions League.

Despite a fantastic record in limited minutes for Liverpool, Origi can’t do much in his time. It’s no surprise, then, that he has zero goals or assists for Milan.

Calciomercato reported a month ago that they were already looking to replace Origi. Things haven’t turned around since – not at all, in fact. They might even be worse.

What should have been the making of Origi is firmly a nightmare thus far. It’s hard to see how he possibly gets out of it, either, unless things somehow turnaround drastically.
