Klopp tries a new left-winger: Predicted Liverpool lineup vs West Ham United

Here’s our predicted Liverpool lineup to face West ham United tomorrow. The Reds will have to try something different.

Jurgen Klopp will have to swap things around when West Ham United visit Anfield tomorrow. Liverpool have another new injury to worry about, after all, with Diogo Jota likely missing the next few months.

We initially predicted him to start on the left of the 4-4-2 but that plan is firmly out of the window now. Klopp and co. must head in a different direction – and that could see a new left-winger start.

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs West Ham

Defence

Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk are both certainties. With Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konaté both out, Joe Gomez is the only real option to partner the Dutchman, too.

We think Liverpool will play both Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold as their full-backs, too. The latter returned against Manchester City and we think he’ll be good to play an hour here.

Midfield

Jordan Henderson didn’t start at the weekend, making him the obvious choice in midfield. Who exactly faces West Ham alongside him is a coin-flip, though.

Our guess is Thiago, with Fabinho coming in for one of them at the weekend. But again, this one might simply come down to fitness on the day.

Attack

With both Jota and Luis Diaz out, Klopp hasn’t got many options for what is essentially a front-four. Mohamed Salah will retain his central spot as his form is quite incredible and Roberto Firmino likely plays just off him.

Harvey Elliott could use a rest after back-to-back games and Fabio Carvalho could play from the right. Klopp tried him there against City and it makes sense to try him from the start.

That leaves the left-hand spot and Darwin Nunez is our choice. Moving Carvalho left, Salah right and playing Nunez through the middle is the ‘obvious’ choice but we’re loathed to move the Egyptian. We were also impressed by the Uruguayan’s efforts from the left when he came on this weekend.

Trying him from the start as a left-winger could give Liverpool an extra dimension that really troubles West Ham.
