Jurgen Klopp admits he had a post-match meeting with referee Anthony Taylor after being sent-off against Manchester City on Sunday. The Liverpool boss wanted to discuss things.
Jurgen Klopp found himself at the centre of controversy on Sunday as he received a red card. The Liverpool boss was infuriated as the assistant referee failed to call for a foul as Bernardo Silva hauled over Mohamed Salah.
The Manchester City player had a fistful of Salah’s shirt, literally a couple of meters from the assistant. The fact nothing was given looked bizarre and Klopp reacted poorly.
He screamed in the assistant’s face as he ran past him, earning a red card from referee Anthony Taylor. Klopp now faces a likely suspension – though, we’re all waiting to see how things go.
What we do know is that Klopp went to Taylor’s office for a post-match meeting. The German explained as much in a Tuesday press conference.
“I was sitting after the game in the office of Anthony Taylor and spoke, completely calmly, about all the situations,” said Klopp, per the Liverpool Echo. “How I saw the game, how he saw the game. It was a completely calm discussion.
“That’s the situation. I got a red card and now we wait for the process.”
Jurgen Klopp has meeting with referee
Well, it will help Klopp’s case that he smoothed things out with Taylor – but we still fully expect a suspension. You can’t scream in an official’s face, as the boss admitted after the game.

Overall, this was just a strange game from an officiating point of view. City’s disallowed goal brought further controversy – though, we’re not sure why – and it felt like Salah needed to lose a leg to get a free-kick.
Regardless, Klopp earned a suspension and we’ll just hope it isn’t a particularly long one.
