Curtis Jones was seen in complete awe after Mohamed Salah scored his incredible goal against Manchester City on Sunday. He was the only one with that reaction.
Liverpool released footage of Mohamed Salah’s winning goal at Anfield yesterday. The clip shows the effort from just about every possible angle – and a couple shine new light on the reactions.
Curtis Jones was one of those. He’s seen with his hands on his head after Salah’s unbelievably-good turn on Joao Cancelo allowed the Egyptian to race through on goal.
Jurgen Klopp has called Jones ‘incredible’ in the past and the youngster has had his own magic moments at Anfield. This, though, was something truly extraordinary. Jones’s reaction reflected that perfectly.
But as good as the Jones reaction was, it can’t possibly be peoples’ favourite.
Curtis Jones in awe of Salah goal
As Jones is putting his hands on his head, Pep Guardiola cuts a dramatic figure in the foreground. The Manchester City boss watched the ball sail towards Salah and simply drops to his knees after the turn.
Guardiola knows what’s coming, after all. Liverpool’s star goalscorer is suddenly through on goal with only Ederson to beat. While the goalkeeper denied him a few minutes earlier, Salah wasn’t going to miss a second time.

It was 1-0 and with the way the game had been going, that felt like a winner almost immediately. Guardiola knew that and his reaction to Cancelo being left for dead told the entire story.
The skill was truly extraordinary, after all, and there’s no surprise that the winning goal took something like that. Neither side were able to easily create anything, let alone a clean run through on goal. Salah had to do it on his own – with the help of quick-thinking by Alisson.
A moment of brilliance that left Guardiola on his knees.
