‘He’s so good’: Milner absolutely loved one moment from his Liverpool teammate yesterday

James Milner was a little in awe of Alisson after the Brazilian’s assist vs Man City on Sunday. Liverpool won the game with his quick pass.

Alisson and Mohamed Salah were the combination that saw off Manchester City at Anfield yesterday. The Brazilian grabbed an assist thanks to a wonderful piece of quick thinking from both players.

Kevin De Bruyne put in a free-kick that Alisson was able to claim. As soon as the goalkeeper had the ball, Salah was off as he saw a possible pass over the top. Michael Owen would hail the forward’s ‘incredible mindset’ after the win.

But James Milner was sure to point out Alisson’s contribution for the goal. It was he, after all, who spotted Salah’s run and played the ideal pass to make it happen.

“Ali, another assist as well,” he told Premier League Matchday Live. “He’s so good as a goalkeeper and doing the things goalkeepers should be but with his feet as well.

“He helps us build up, sets the tone and makes great decisions like that one. Not scared to go long and has the accuracy to find him.

“Not the first time Ali’s done that and it’s a great weapon to have.”

Alisson registers assist vs Man City

This is what Liverpool get with Alisson. Not only is he an elite shot-stopper but he’s as good in possession as any goalkeeper. As good as most centre-backs, in all honesty.

He spots the run quickly and sees an opportunity that not many would. Alisson is also backing Salah to make the most out of a difficult pass – and of course, the Egyptian does just that.

We wouldn’t swap him for anyone in the world and we know no one at Liverpool would, either. A world-class goalkeeper who could well go down as the best we’ve seen at Anfield when all is said and done.
