Roberto Firmino has shared a conversation he had with Darwin Nunez on the Liverpool bench last night.
Both players were subbed with 20 minutes or so remaining, with Mohamed Salah coming on to bag a hat-trick. And sitting on the bench together, Firmino told Nunez that he was certain the Egyptian would score three times.
“Amazing. When he scored the first goal I told Darwin on the bench, “he’ll score a hat-trick 100 per cent”, I could feel it from the bench. That’s exactly what he did and I’m so happy for him,” Bobby told UEFA after the game.
Salah was clearly in the mood to cause Rangers some trouble last night. Let’s hope the hat-trick kicks off a better run of form in-front of goal.

Salah clicks into gear just in time
Sometimes there’s just something about Mohamed Salah. Perhaps it’s the ice cold look on his face at times, maybe it’s the purpose he moves with on the ball.
But there are days where you just know he’s going to score a hatful.
Unfortunately for Salah and Liverpool, those days haven’t been coming at all this season. More often than not the Egyptian has looked like the least likely player on the whole pitch to score.
That all changed on Wednesday night. Aided by a battered Rangers defence, Salah could do no wrong.

He could even have added a late assist, had Diogo Jota prodded home a gift of a ball in the final minutes. Harvey Elliott gobbled up the resulting rebound instead.
It all bodes well for things to finally click into gear for Mo in 2022/23. And what timing, too.
Manchester City are lying in wait, and Liverpool need their best players on it to stand any kind of chance. At this point, a win for the Reds would probably represent a bit of an upset. Nevertheless, with Salah in form, they may fancy their chances.
The 30-year-old has scored eight goals against Pep Guardiola’s side over the years. He’s only found the net more against three teams. Another hat-trick on Sunday and they’ll become his favourite side to hunt against. He couldn’t, could he?
