Liverpool recently sent scouts to watch Galatasaray’s French right-back Sacha Boey.

That’s according to Fanatik, who claim that the Reds were in attendance for Gala’s Super Lig game against Konyaspor on September 17th.

But it wasn’t just Boey who Liverpool were reportedly there to see. They are also said to have been watching wingers Yunus Akgun and Kerem Akturkoglu as well as centre-back Victor Nelsson.

It’s claimed that Liverpool will continue to follow all four players throughout the season.

Celtic miss out on Boey

Boey is catching the eye at Galatasaray this season. After breaking through at French Ligue 1 side Rennes, he signed for the Turkish club last summer.

The move to Istanbul came at a cost to Celtic, who were chasing the youngster after being impressed by him in the Europa League.

As per the Daily Record, Boey claims he had a straight choice between Galatasaray and the Glasgow club.

“In the summer [of 2021] I had a straight choice between Celtic and Galatasaray,” he said. “The previous season I had played against Celtic and got noticed. It was a great stadium and a fantastic atmosphere. I liked Celtic, but I said no.”

Instead, Boey moved to the Turkish capital, where he initially struggled for meaningful game time. Last season, the 22-year-old played just 13 times as he settled into a new country.

But having stepped in for the injured Leo Dubois this campaign, he has so far started each of his team’s eight Super Lig matches.

With searing pace and an instinct to attack, it’s easy to see why Boey may have popped up on Liverpool’s radar. Although they now have Calvin Ramsay to back up Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Scot is still a teenager.

Should he not develop as expected, or if he needs to pursue a loan move to get minutes on the pitch, perhaps Boey is one to keep an eye on. As for the rest of the Gala quartet, it may be worth Reds fans familiarising themselves with them just in case.
