The BBC’s Chris Sutton warns Liverpool that Arsenal boast two players who will ’cause a lot of problems’ on Sunday. The Reds travel to North London for a massive game.
Liverpool know that Arsenal will be a much more challenging task this weekend. The Reds comfortably beat Rangers in midweek, showing off a new 4-4-2 formation in a 2-0 win.
It was Liverpool at their best – or at least, a performance that looked far more like the successful side of the last few years. Arsenal top the Premier League, however, and will look to make a statement on Sunday.
Chris Sutton, writing for the BBC, predicts a 4-1 win for Mikel Arteta’s side. He points out two Arsenal players who will ’cause a lot of problems’ for Liverpool.
“Jurgen Klopp’s side were very comfortable against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday but they weren’t tested defensively,” writes Sutton. “Here, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus won’t give them a minute’s peace.
“I think Liverpool will score, even though they have not quite clicked yet this season, but Arsenal’s attacking talent are going to cause them a lot of problems at the other end.”
Arsenal players to trouble Liverpool
Arsenal are certainly a much tougher challenge. We actually think it’ll be Martin Odegaard and Jesus who trouble Liverpool the most, though – particularly if Jurgen Klopp sticks with his 4-4-2.
Admittedly, we don’t think he will. Fabinho is the sensible addition to the side as Liverpool look to stop Arsenal playing between the lines.
We also think there might be too much pessimism on show around Liverpool. Yes, they’ve struggled in games but always against the counter-attack. Arsenal will try to control the game with the ball, allowing the Reds to be more compact than they have been.
It could instead be a match that reflects the Community Shield win over Manchester City. Liverpool were fantastic on that day, able to drop deeper and hit City on the break. Arsenal may offer a similar opportunity.
And if that is the case, it could be Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz who are the players causing problems.
