Liverpool are keen to sign Jamal Musiala, says journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Reds love the look of the Bayern Munich man.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg says Liverpool would love to sign Jamal Musiala. The problem is that Bayern Munich just aren’t in any position to sell him.
“Yes, [Liverpool are] interested in Musiala,” he wrote on Twitter. “Like any other top club in the world. But a transfer is no topic at this stage.
“He doesn’t want to leave Bayern and he is not for sale as mentioned by [Hasan] Salihamidzic at Sky.”
Liverpool keen to sign Jamal Musiala
Well, Plettenberg is certainly right here. Everyone would love to sign Musiala, who has exploded onto the scene over the last year. He’s become one of the best young midfielders on the planet.
But Bayern don’t sell their best players. Not unless they force themselves out in their 30s as Robert Lewandowski did this summer, anyway.
And so the chances of Liverpool actually getting Musiala are incredibly slim. That’s a little frustrating, of course, as the Reds supposedly wanted to sign the player a year or so ago.

The Mail claimed back in early 2021 that Liverpool wanted Musiala. He’d eventually sign a new contract with Bayern but there was real talk that he’d be on his way to England that year.
And as Liverpool quite openly look to sign Jude Bellingham, Musiala would have been the answer to their problems if they’d signed him back then. Instead, they’ll try to pay a fortune for another young midfielder from the Bundesliga.
Musiala has gone on to become an ‘amazingly good’ player, in the words of Joshua Kimmich. He grabbed an assist just last night, in fact, as he started for Bayern in a 5-0 win over Victoria Plzen.
As much as Liverpool might want to sign him, we can’t see it happening anytime soon.
