Liverpool target Jude Bellingham broke a Champions League record tonight with a magnificent performance against Sevilla. The Borussia Dortmund player is a true star.
Jude Bellingham put in a Champions League performance to remember on Wednesday evening. The Englishman made history on multiple counts, in fact.
Borussia Dortmund named the 19-year-old as their captain, making him the third-youngest player to captain a Champions League side. Only Matthijs de Ligt for Ajax and Ruben Neves for FC Porto were younger.
Obviously, that makes Bellingham both the youngest English captain in the competition and the youngest for a German side. But the midfielder broke a more impressive record.
He scored Dortmund’s second goal – a truly brilliant strike – and becomes the youngest captain to score in the Champions League as a result.
Bellingham’s goal wasn’t his only fantastic moment, either. The midfielder produced a perfect crossfield pass for Raphael Guerreiro to score their opener.
It was a magnificent display from one of the world’s most in-demand talents.

Reports widely link Liverpool with Bellingham, of course. Fabrizio Romano is confident that the Reds will be involved in any transfer race as one of the most prominent parties.
But there’s a lot of interest and a record like this shows why. De Ligt, after all, was the world’s most in-demand youngster as he left Ajax after breaking a similar record. Players who can deliver on this level as a teenager is a ridiculously rare occurrence.
Liverpool will just have to hope they can talk Bellingham into a transfer. The money that will be throw at the player is going to be eye-watering and the Reds don’t usually get involved with such figures.
We will be crossing our fingers all year long, then. Bellingham would be perfection for Liverpool. Let’s hope it’s not just a dream.
