Arthur Melo will remain at Liverpool during the international break, as he aims to continue building his fitness.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim that Arthur will be staying at Liverpool during the two-week interlude.
The Brazilian will reportedly stay on Merseyside to keep ‘adjusting to life’ in the city.
This comes after Arthur made his first start for his new club yesterday. The 26-year-old is still yet to start for Liverpool proper, but he reportedly played 90 minutes for the U21s last night. A big step forward.
Arthur continues making strides
The sight of Arthur turning out for Liverpool’s underage side will have been a strange one for supporters. He is a Brazil international after all and may not be used to such humble surroundings.
Interesting to find out then, that Arthur himself actually requested his involvement in the U21s. The midfielder has reportedly impressed Liverpool coaches with his willingness and determination to get himself match-fit.
This is the kind of thing that is sure to catch the attention of Jurgen Klopp. Well known to place immense stock on the attitude of his players, Klopp will no doubt have taken note of his new man’s resolve.
Aside from performing immensely on the pitch, this is perhaps the best thing Arthur could do for his reputation at Liverpool.
He’s not here to take an easy paycheque, that’s for sure. With this move, Arthur has indicated a real willingness to do everything he can to convince Liverpool to take a more permanent bet on him.
Whether they do or not will of course depend on matters on the pitch. It’s one thing doing it in training, it’s another showing it consistently out on the pitch.
Yesterday took Arthur one step closer to being ready to contribute for Liverpool. Over the next two weeks, he’ll hopefully continue making strides as his teammates jet off across the world.
