Emile Heskey’s son Jaden scored against Liverpool U18s today as Manchester City beat the young Reds 4-3.
As per liverpoolfc.com, the 16-year-old grabbed the third goal for City as they overturned Liverpool’s 3-1 lead in the second-half on Saturday.
Just like his father, Jaden plays as a centre-forward. His younger brother Reigan is also part of the youth teams at City.
Heskey played over 200 times for Liverpool between 2000 and 2004, scoring 60 times. The former England man won an FA Cup, two League Cups, a UEFA Cup and a Super Cup during his time at Anfield.
Liverpool lose out in topsy-turvy game
It was a topsy-turvy afternoon for Liverpool’s youngsters against Man City. The Reds fell behind early on, but a double from Lewis Koumas and a Trent Kone-Doherty goal put them into a commanding lead.
With 20 minutes to go, Liverpool were still two goals to the good. But three City goals in the last portion of the game completed the turnaround.
Aside from the Heskey goal, the afternoon was noteworthy for Kone-Doherty finding the net again.
That now makes it two goals in three games for Trent in the U18 Premier League this season. The 16-year-old has hit the ground running since his summer move from Derry City and looks like an exciting prospect.
Along with fellow newcomer Ben Doak, Kone-Doherty would appear a potential first-team player somewhere down the line.
As would Lewis Koumas. Like Heskey, Koumas is the son of a former Premier League player. Dad Jason never made it as senior pro at Liverpool, despite playing with the Reds at schoolboy level. But Lewis is going one better.
Five goals in five games represents an excellent start to the season for the 16-year-old. The challenge now is to keep it going throughout the rest of the campaign.
As for Heskey, he’ll be one to keep an eye on, too.
