Liverpool’s interest in Enzo Fernández is one the rise, according to reports. The Argentine is making a name for himself at Benfica.
This comes from UOL in Brazil. They report on Liverpool’s current interest in midfielders, with three names in the mix. First is Matheus Nunes of Wolves.
He left Sporting for the midlands this summer after months of reports that Liverpool wanted him. UOL suggest that the interest is very much still there – and the Reds could do something about it in 2023.
Jude Bellingham is another name on the list, apparently. That’s not exactly a shock as Liverpool’s interest is an open secret and everyone sees an offer arriving next year.
Enzo Fernández is the most interesting name, though. The 21-year-old signed for Benfica at the start of the year and continues to look like a very good player. His profile is apparently on the rise behind the scenes at Liverpool, who could decide to make him a primary target for 2023.
Julian Ward’s relationship with Jorge Mendes plays a big part in that, too. Mendes helped get the Darwin Nunez deal done and would be involved with any move for Fernández.
Liverpool show Enzo Fernández interest
Fernández is making waves at Benfica right now and earned plenty of praise for his display against Juventus this week. He will be on the shortlist of every major club at this rate.

Thus it makes sense for Liverpool to position themselves accordingly. The Argentine could well become the next superstar sale out of Portugal – a market the Reds clearly like. Could we even see them try their hand in January?
That wouldn’t be shock, given the Luis Diaz deal last time out. If Fernández continues on this path, Liverpool may move early to avoid the inevitable rush next summer.
We imagine Bellingham remains the no.1 target but Fernández should absolutely be on the mind as an alternative. Just in case.
