Brighton hope to give Moisés Caicedo a new contract, according to reports. It comes with the likes of Liverpool watching.

This comes from the Mirror. They claim that Brighton want to renew Moisés Caicedo’s contract while several top clubs eye a transfer.

The report suggests that Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all considered a move this summer. Brighton, however, weren’t interested in selling – but a big change at the club complicates things.

Graham Potter is now the Chelsea boss and rates Caicedo incredibly highly. His comments on the player last month suggest he’d want him at Stamford Bridge before long.

“You’d probably get his boots for [£42m] from the chairman – maybe! £100m? They can try,” said Potter. “It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level.”

And as Caicedo’s reputation continues to grow, Brighton hope to tie him down for the long-term.

Moisés Caicedo to receive new contract offer

Ecuadorian outlet Studio Fútbol said late in the transfer window that Liverpool wanted Caicedo. It came as no surprise, either, as the 20-year-old looks like a potential world-beater.

We wrote that he’d be the ultimate project player for Liverpool. Caicedo boasts just about every midfield skillset that you could want, capable of passing, pressing, and tackling at a top level. And he’s only going to improve.

Brighton, though, can put themselves into a very strong position with a new contract. They’d guarantee themselves a gigantic price, at the very least, and potentially something close to the £100m Potter talked about.

Caicedo has that kind of potential and if Brighton can maintain their good form, they’ll feel confident of it. Especially with Potter and Chelsea potentially pushing for the transfer themselves.

As for Liverpool, Caicedo could end up being a big target next summer. We expect the Jude Bellingham pursuit to dominate their thinking but as an alternative, there are few better than the Ecudorian.
