Calvin Ramsay is back in Liverpool training and should be fully fit and available for selection very soon.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that the 19-year-old has recently returned to ‘light training.’

While still unavailable at the moment, it’s claimed that Ramsay should be able to ‘help’ Liverpool in ‘the coming weeks.’

The Scottish youngster hasn’t seen a single second of action since his summer signing from Aberdeen. But with the fixture list now set to ramp up, he should be ready just in time.

Ramsay’s frustration nearing an end

It must have been a horribly frustrating time for Ramsay since signing for Liverpool. Billed as The Reds’ new back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold, the right-back simply hasn’t been able to get going yet.

That wouldn’t usually be a huge problem for Liverpool. Trent is one of Jurgen Klopp’s key players and tends to play near-enough every game.

But the 23-year-old has been a little lacklustre at times this season. Having come off in each of the last two games, maybe he’s in need of a small rest.

Without Ramsay to call upon, and with centre-back injuries tying up Joe Gomez, this hasn’t really been possible.

Where the £6.5m signing from Aberdeen may have had a chance to show his quality, he has instead had to watch on.

As full-back is such a crucial and unique role for Liverpool, it may take Ramsay some time on the training pitch to get used to Klopp’s ideas.

In that respect, it may still be a little while before the manager decides that he’s ready to play.

Liverpool have a Carabao Cup tie coming up in around two months time. At this current moment it feels like that may be earmarked as Ramsay’s first start for the club. Hopefully he can get some minutes in here and there before then as well.
