Jamie Carragher has claimed that Liverpool fans will welcome the news of Thomas Tuchel‘s sacking at Chelsea today.
Writing for The Telegraph, Carragher said that Liverpool supporters will now feel their top four chances have been ‘significantly enhanced.’
“What is for certain is that with Tuchel gone, fans of Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham will feel their top four chances have been significantly enhanced,” said the Reds legend.
“Tuchel will not be out of work long. It says everything about the outgoing Chelsea’s manager’s ability that should any of Europe’s top clubs have a vacancy in the future, his name will be high on the list of candidates.”

Tuchel left to rue Liverpool’s cup double
When Tuchel won the Champions League in 2021, there were some suggestions that he was on the way to matching Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at Liverpool.
In the end, the German didn’t come remotely close to his countryman’s success.
Things could of course have been immeasurably different had things gone his way last season. Liverpool ended the campaign with both domestic cups in their cabinet. Chelsea took home runners-up medals for both.
By way of two penalty shootouts, Liverpool ensured Klopp completed the trophy set at Anfield. As a result, Tuchel was left to rue what could have been.

Had he have beaten Klopp to the FA and Carabao Cup, perhaps he would have been sacked anyway.
There may be new ownership at Chelsea, but they seem to be intent on doing things the same way as the old guard did.
What that means for Liverpool is likely to be felt only at the end of the season. But looking around the pool of available managers at the moment, it’s hard to see how the Blues could improve on Tuchel.
More immediately for Liverpool, they play Chelsea a week on Sunday. They may have to wary of a new manager bounce should Tuchel have been replaced by then.
