Stephen Warnock has praised Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino for his display in the first-half against Bournemouth today.
Commentating for Astro, Warnock said that Liverpool’s no.9 had been ‘really good’ in the opening 45 minutes.
“It’s often said that Liverpool are at their best when Roberto Firmino plays well. We’re seeing it today, he’s been the link,” said the former Reds defender. “He’s been good today, he’s been really good, he’s been linking play extremely well.”
Firmino has grabbed himself a goal and an astonishing three assists so far at Anfield as Liverpool came flying out of the blocks. It was goal number 99 for Bobby at the club, maybe 100 will be on the way in the second-half.
Liverpool back on track against Bournemouth
As Warnock mentions, Firmino has often been the key for Liverpool during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
When the Brazilian is on form, Liverpool look irresistible going forward. If the £29m man is off his game, The Reds can often look sluggish and lethargic.
Thankfully, after some disappointing recent performances, the former has been the case this afternoon at Anfield. Firmino’s touch has been excellent and his link-up play precise and clean.
Bobby assisted Liverpool’s first three goals, and scored the fourth. A sensational display from the 30-year-old.
His goal was a lovely one, too. Reading a deflection off the Bournemouth defender, Firmino ghosted into the space between the two centre-halves. True to the man himself, the finish was an extravagant one.
Reaching out his right-foot, Bobby poked the ball into the roof of the net with the outside of his boot. 4-0 to Liverpool, half an hour on the clock. Just what the doctor ordered.
Virgil Van Dijk duly added another in injury time to send Liverpool into dreamland. After a difficult start to the season, The Reds are finally looking back on track. Come on Liverpool.
