Liverpool’s hopes of signing Leandro Paredes appear over already after he agreed terms with Juventus. The Argentine is in demand.
Fabrizio Romano lays on a report from Gianluca di Marzio claiming that Leandro Paredes is very close to joining Juventus. The midfielder is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain in search of regular first-team football and the Old Lady appear eager to sign him.
“Positive contacts between Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for Leandro Paredes,” Romano writes on Twitter. “Talks progressing to get the deal done, as personal terms are now already agreed.
“Negotiations will continue in the next days to complete the agreement.”

A quick turnaround here, then. TNT Sports in Argentina said just a couple of days ago that Liverpool wanted Paredes. Now it appears he’s all but set for Juventus.
Not that’s it’s any great shock and we do wonder if Liverpool were actually interested in Paredes. Our guess would be ‘no’ as he doesn’t really tick the boxes they want.
At 28, Paredes wouldn’t offer much long-term and he’s not going to break into the best XI right now. That makes you question the point of any move. Liverpool would surely either sign a first-XI player or a bright talent for the future if they entered the market.
Hopefully, both.
Paredes, who joined PSG for £35m in 2019, isn’t getting fist-team football with PSG, either. Would he really have moved to Liverpool to sit on the bench in big games? We doubt it. Not at 28 and looking to move on.
And so if Liverpool do want to add a midfielder this week, they’ll need to look elsewhere. We’re still holding onto unreasonable hopes that they find a deal for Frenkie de Jong. Though, there’s absolutely nothing to suggest that they’re looking.
Merely crossing our fingers that Liverpool find a way to boost their squad late on.
