Mohamed Salah has the perfect response to Liverpool falling behind Man City in the Premier League already. The Egyptian isn’t worried.
Liverpool haven’t had the start to the Premier League season that they wanted. A 2-2 draw against newly-promoted Fulham on their opening day wasn’t exactly great, while the 1-1 with Crystal Palace was very frustrating.
Manchester City – the Reds presumed title rivals – won their opening fixtures, however. They’re now four points ahead already, with neither team expected to drop many points over the season. That could be a fatal deficit for Liverpool.
But it seems the players aren’t worried. Or at least, Mohamed Salah isn’t. He gave a brief explanation as to why this four-point lead is nothing that concerns him.
“It could be a little bit of pressure if we’re seven points behind City, but I think it’s too early to think about that,” Salah told Sky Sports.
“Last season we were behind by about 10 or 11 points, and we came back. So it’s too early to think about that.”

Salah is absolutely right and the concerns over Liverpool’s form are a little out of hand. The Reds overhauled a major City lead last season and took things right to the wire. An Aston Villa collapse on the final day was all that denied them the title.
There is no great reason to panic, then. All Liverpool can do is find their momentum – as they always do – and wait for City to inevitably slip. Pep Guardiola’s side are fantastic, of course, but they’re not going to win every game.
But Liverpool certainly do need to get going soon. There’s no better time to do that than against Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow. Win that and the positivity will flow through Anfield quickly.
