Jurgen Klopp believes Luis Diaz could start scoring 15 goals per season. That’s the Liverpool star’s quality, he says.
Will we see Luis Diaz hit another level for Liverpool soon? That’s the big question as he looks to take over from Sadio Mané on the Reds’ left flank.
Mané, after all, is one of the best we’ve ever seen down that side. 120 goals across 263 games sum it up, really, as the Senegal star never once failed to hit double figures in the Premier League for Liverpool.
He bagged 16 in the league last season, in fact, and 2019 saw him score 22 as he shared the Golden Boot. That kind of quality is hard to come by – so does Diaz have it? We know he’s an exceptional player but scoring at that level is something very special.
Jurgen Klopp, though, sees it in Diaz. He told a press conference on this week that the Colombian has the quality to be scoring 15 goals per season.
“Definitely, that’s his quality,” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com. “But in the end, we need to see. But, of course, it’s his potential, yeah.”
Luis Diaz scoring 15 goals per season
It’s certainly something that Liverpool will have targetted with Diaz when signing him. After all, he had 16 goals in the first-half of the season for FC Porto last year – a phenomenal rate. The Reds signed him on the back of that and his goal record played an enormous role.
And it sounds as though Diaz could find his rhythm in that regard any time now. That’s the impression Klopp gives.

“You see the situations he had, like the biggest chances are just unlucky – it is,” said the boss. “He had these blocked moments already a couple of times but he’s in a really good shape actually, he looks really good – and that’s more important for me, that he’s in these situations.”
Diaz could have had a couple against Fulham but things just didn’t fall his way. Soon, they will and that may open the doors to a fantastic goalscorer from the wing.
Maybe even one who can live up to the standards Sadio Mané set.
