Sadio Mané sent a gift to all the staff at Liverpool as a final farewell. The Senegal star joined Bayern Munich this summer.

Sadio Mané sent a ‘thank you’ gift to everyone at Liverpool, says journalist Christian Falk. Mané sent over 150, apparently, all with a ‘handwritten’ note and chocolate.

Now, you can find images of the gifts on Twitter (we’ll link one below) and Falk hasn’t got things quite right there. The notes aren’t handwritten – but that’s pretty understandable given Mané send 150 of them.

The big photo of Mané with the chocolate is certainly a gift, too. Not one you’re likely to forget, anyway, and who says no to free chocolate?

It’s a thoughtful gesture from Mané, who clearly appreciates everything the staff did for him. It was six years of help, after all, from the security personnel to the kitchen workers.

And you’d expect nothing less than recognition from Mané, who has consistently shown thoughtfulness over the length of his career. He’s not someone who ever forgets where he’s come from or how he got to where he is.

It’s one of the many reasons we’ll miss seeing him with Liverpool, in all honesty. Obviously, his efforts on the pitch are the biggest miss but Mané was always someone who did his best away from the pitch, too. This is further evidence of that – even if a portrait of yourself is an interesting way to go about it.

Liverpool, of course, love having such players, too. They’ve filled their squad with those who don’t play for themselves first, with several stars – Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson being prime examples – who use their status to make a difference off the pitch.
