Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to sign RB Salzburg midfielder Luka Sucic in next year’s end of season transfer window.

That’s according to Salzburger Nachrichten. As transcribed by the Liverpool Echo, Klopp has reportedly already added the 19-year-old to his shortlist of Liverpool signings next summer.

The Reds boss is claimed to have been keeping ‘a special eye’ on Sucic during Liverpool’s recent friendly match with Salzburg.

However, it’s said that Liverpool aren’t the only ones interested. Italian pair AC Milan and Juventus are also claimed to be ‘monitoring’ the Croatian ahead of a potential move.

Sucic a realistic option for Liverpool

Sucic is a name that has been circulating over the last few months in relation to Liverpool.

According to Goal back in June, Liverpool believe the rangy midfielder has the potential to be an ‘elite’ option.

Liverpool have a good relationship with Salzburg and the rest of the Red Bull group clubs. Given The Reds’ obvious need for a midfielder at the moment, it isn’t an outlandish suggestion that they’d be looking at Sucic.

Whilst being the same age as reported top target Jude Bellingham, Sucic would be a much more affordable purchase.

Just like Bellingham, he has experience in a Champions League midfield. He’s also a full international with three caps to his name in a pretty decent Croatia midfield.

All that means that his price could be about to skyrocket. With a World Cup on the horizon, it could be a gamble for Liverpool to wait another year as Sucic’s reputation continues to grow.

But Klopp and co won’t be cowed in the transfer market. If Sucic’s star shines even brighter this season, it will only reinforce the belief that he could be the perfect midfielder for Liverpool.

It must be said that he didn’t particularly catch the eye in the pre-season friendly last month. But it’s dangerous to gauge players in such games. Liverpool should continue to keep an eye on his progress as the season develops.
