New academy signing Ben Doak scored on his Liverpool debut for the U18’s against Middlesbrough this afternoon.
According to liverpoolfc.com, the 16-year-old took just 22 minutes to open his account for his new club. Doak won and then converted a penalty to get the third goal in an eventual 6-2 win.
Prior to that the teenager, who was signed from Celtic this summer, had a big hand in Liverpool’s opener after just five minutes.
After weaving his way into the box from the right-hand side, Doak’s shot was poked into his own net by a Boro defender. A hugely promising beginning from the young man.

Doak gets off to the perfect start
Doak’s arrival at Liverpool this summer had been hotly anticipated. Plenty had been said about the youngster, who had already made his senior debut for Celtic.
He was called ‘fantastic’ by Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou via The Scotsman, and he certainly looks to have hit the ground running at his new club.
Of course, he has plenty of competition if he’s looking to break into Liverpool’s first-team at the moment. Playing on either wing, he’ll have to get past some stellar and legendary names to get near Jurgen Klopp’s team.

For now though, all he can do is show what he’s got at the level he’s deemed worthy of at this moment in time. In that respect, he’s started the season as he means to go on.
Also impressing was fellow 16-year-old Lewis Koumas. The forward, who’s the son of former Wales midfielder Jason Koumas, bagged four goals as the young Reds ran riot.
A brilliant start to the season for Liverpool. With talents like Doak in the side, they’ll be worth keeping an eye on this season.
