Liverpool academy youngster Jake Cain has been the subject of interest from both Swindon Town and Crewe Alexandra.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim that both clubs have enquired about the 20-year-old’s availability.
Cain, who has publicly declared that he wants to leave Liverpool for more first-team minutes, could reportedly leave on-loan.
The young midfielder spent the entirety of last season with League Two side Newport County. Cain is said to be looking for another loan spell to gain more first-team experience.

Cain trying to show he’s able for Liverpool
It’s clear at this point that Cain will become one of the many academy players who fail to make the first-team grade. Turning twenty-one in a few weeks, he simply has to move on in order to kick-start his senior career.
Reading his quotes from his interview with Goal, Cain’s frustration at being overlooked at Liverpool is palpable.
After a good spell with Newport last season, he had hoped to be given the chance to impress in pre-season. In the end, that chance never arrived.
It’s unfortunate for Cain, and everyone wants to see local players come through the academy. But with respect to Crewe, Swindon and Newport, the level of the sides interested in his services are far below Liverpool.

It may be that Cain works his way up to the top-level throughout his career. Hopefully he can.
At this moment in time, though, there are simply too many players above him in the pecking order at Liverpool.
A loan looks like being the most likely scenario this summer. Who knows, impress sufficiently and he may get a chance to strut his stuff next pre-season with The Reds. Over to you, Jake, best of luck.
