'Thanks to all of them': Darwin Nunez in awe of Liverpool fans after a moment v Man City gave him 'goosebumps'

Darwin Nunez thanks Liverpool fans after one moment vs Manchester City gave him ‘goosebumps’. The Uruguayan is enjoying his start.

Darwin Nunez came off the bench last Saturday for the Community Shield hoping to make an impact. He did just that, of course, winning a penalty for Liverpool’s second and scoring the third. They turned out to be the two decisive goals as the Reds beat Manchester City 3-1.

You won’t see many debuts better than that, especially as a second-half substitute against the champions. It’s one everyone will remember for a long time.

And Nunez will remember it for more than just his impact on the pitch. In fact, he wants to say thanks to Liverpool fans for one moment that occurred before he even got on.

“Now I wanted to thank the Liverpool fans because when I went out to start my warm-up, they were chanting my name, ‘Nunez, Nunez’ and it gave me goosebumps,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“They were also singing my name during the game itself, and that’s really important for a player as it calms you down and gives you a boost in confidence out on the pitch too.

“So, thanks to all of them once again because they made me feel really good.”

Well, just wait until you get to Anfield. The Liverpool faithful are eager for Nunez to be the latest attacking star at the club and we can’t remember the last attacking player to arrive with this much hype around him.

Maybe Luis Suárez? Liverpool have had plenty of top attackers arrive since then, of course, but calculated signings who the Reds hoped would move on a level. Nunez arrives as potentially the club’s record signing and a 23-year-old who scored 32 times last season.

In other words, he’s going to get a wonderful reaction at Anfield on August 15th. He should expect more goosebumps.
