Liverpool are waiting on an opinion from a specialist to see how long Curtis Jones will be out with injury. The Scouser will miss Fulham away.
This comes from the Athletic. They claim that Curtis Jones will miss the meeting with Fulham on Saturday that sees Liverpool kick off their Premier League season.
Jones has a calf problem – we know that much – but the severity is up in the air. The midfielder will see a specialist this week, it seems, in order to judge the severity of the injury. The expectation, however, is that he’ll be missing for up to four weeks.
Curtis Jones to see injury specialist
This is a blow for Jones, of course. The only bright side is that it comes right at the start of the season – there will be plenty of games by the time he’s back. An injury like this the wrong side of Christmas, for instance, can keep you out for the rest of the season as the team seeks momentum.
And so this isn’t the end of the world, even if it’s a blow. This will likely be a big season for Jones, after all, and one that could come to define his time with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp labelled him a player with ‘incredible potential’ last season and data has always backed that up. But we really need to see more of that ability this time around, especially as Jones is now 21.
We see one massive benefit, though. This campaign will almost certainly see a boost in Klopp’s usage of attacking midfielders as Darwin Nunez isn’t a False 9. The likes of Jones, Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho will all get the chance to really carve out roles for themselves, then.
And while Jones’s injury slows things down for him, he’ll still get ample opportunities to earn his place. It’s just a waiting game for now.
