Pep Lijnders suggests that one Liverpool player has a ‘better left foot’ than Mo Salah. He doesn’t want anyone telling him that, however.
Mohamed Salah is unquestionably one of the world’s best players, let alone wingers. The Egyptian has established himself as one of the greatest threats from the right flank, cutting inside onto his left foot and wreaking havoc.
That left foot has delivered numerous magic moments over the last five years. But might there be an even better one at Liverpool?
Pep Lijnders suggested so as he handed out copies of his books to Liverpool players. A video on the Reds’ Twitter page had him thanking various Reds and usually delivering a little comment on the player.
When he handed Harvey Elliott his book, he took the chance to deliver incredible praise.
“I think there are not many with a better left foot than Mo Salah,” Lijnders said of Elliott. “Don’t tell him [Salah] that!”
A better left foot than Mo Salah
We know that Lijnders thinks the world of Elliott. A passage in his book likens the teenager to Andrés Iniesta, in fact – and it doesn’t get better than that for a creative midfielder.
But a better left foot than Salah? Well, we’ll take Lijnders at his word here but that’s extraordinary praise for Elliott. That’s the belief the club staff appear to have in him, though.

Klopp could barely hide his excitement at the prospect of Elliott finally having a full season with Liverpool, for one. He says he’ll treat him like a new signing.
And what a ‘new signing’ Elliott could be. The youngster started last season in phenomenal fashion, with data suggesting he’s a truly special talent. Only a serious injury against Leeds United ultimately stopped him from taking the Premier League by storm.
We can’t wait to see what he brings this time, then. Maybe we’ll even see what Lijnders is talking about – because a better left foot than Salah would be a truly wonderous thing.
