There are two senior Liverpool players who could still leave this month. The Reds may not be done just yet.
We’re officially into the final month of the transfer window as it will close on September 1st. That makes this a do-or-die time for most clubs as they settle on their final squads for the first half of the season.
Liverpool, of course, are all but done. They finished their business early, as usual – which admittedly makes them very difficult to write about. If only there were the chaos that we see at Manchester United and Chelsea.
But while the Reds’ incomings are finished, they do still have a couple of likely outgoings. We see two senior players who will almost certainly depart over the coming weeks.
Senior Liverpool players who could leave
Nat Phillips seems like the most obvious. The Liverpool Echo claim that Bournemouth could move to sign him permanently after a successful loan spell, with the Reds wanting £10m.
Now, for us, that’s an absolute bargain signing for anyone. Phillips is proven at both Championship and Premier League level – he’s good enough for Liverpool, in all honesty. That’s further shown by Klopp reportedly being willing to keep him around as a fifth-choice centre-back.
Phillips would surely prefer to move on and continue his career, however.

The other departure is likely Sepp van den Berg, who has firmly moved beyond youth level now. He’s spent a wonderful 18 months with Preston North End and we imagine a loan is in his future.
There were reports just last week, in fact, that Bournemouth again wanted Van den Berg. That was the line from the Daily Mail – maybe a 2-for-1 is in their future.
Whatever happens, this will be a massive season for Van den Berg. He needs to spend time somewhere with regular football and it will make or break his Liverpool future.
