Mohamed Salah was seen giving advice to Harvey Elliott as Liverpool showed off their latest training footage. Who better to learn from?
Liverpool released their latest Inside Training video on Thursday and it was a great one. A particularly interesting moment came right at the start, though, as the players made their way across the pitches.
Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott are seen in conversation, with the Egyptian clearly handing out advice to the youngster. You can only just about make out what he’s saying, however.
“You don’t have to be awesome” is our best guess for the first part of Salah’s advice but the second is much clearer. “My first touch, I take it like this and then I scoot forward,” he tells Elliott.
Mo Salah seen giving Harvey Elliott advice
Obviously, this is only a small thing that doesn’t mean all that much in the grand scheme. But it’s still wonderful to see both Elliott seeking advice and Salah’s willingness to hand it out.
Not every senior player does but the Egyptian has always appeared eager to pass on what he knows. In fact, last summer we saw something similar with the two of them.
Pep Lijnders told a story in 2021 about Salah guiding Elliott through his nutrition – right down to how many slices of bread he should eat. It’s a story that sums him up, really, as the winger’s discipline with fitness and diet is extraordinary.
But again, his desire to pass that stuff on to Elliott is a fantastic thing for Liverpool. After all, the teenager is back playing on the right-wing in pre-season and it’s very possible that the Reds see him as Salah’s long-term replacement.
The more he can pick up from his teammate, then, the better. Thankfully, Salah is more than willing to help.
