Liverpool are scouting Will Osula, according to reports. The Sheffield United striker has a lot of attention on him right now.
This comes from the Sheffield Star. They claim that both Liverpool and Newcastle United are scouting Sheffield United’s Will Osula.
The 18-year-old played five times in the Championship last season and while he didn’t score a goal, his reputation is growing. The Blades believe he merely needs the right kind of coaching and they might have a way to find it.
That would involve sending Osula to Burton Albion where he could work with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. United have previously sent Daniel Jebbison to play under the former striker and it proved very successful.
Osula, then, could follow in those footsteps this season.
Liverpool are scouting Will Osula
We can’t admit to knowing too much about Osula beyond him being a relatively inexperienced 18-year-old Danish striker for Sheffield United. It’s not exactly enough to truly get excited about.
But if Liverpool see something in the player, it’s safe to say that Osula is one to watch. The Reds, after all, would believe they can get him the right coaching without sending him out on loan.
And that might be the plan here. Pick up Osula before he improves dramatically – something that will only draw more interest and drive up his price. Liverpool could save a lot of money by doing the difficult work themselves.
We also imagine that such a signing wouldn’t fall under the ‘no more transfers’ line that Liverpool are pushing right now. Osula would firmly be one for the Under 21s, at least for his first season. He’d be an addition that doesn’t get in anyone’s way, in other words, and merely brings solid competition amongst the youngsters.
And so this might be one to keep an eye on. Liverpool do like signings like this and Osula could be worth jumping on this summer.
