Both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz looked to be on the winning team in Liverpool’s training tournament today.
The two South Americans lined-up to celebrate alongside five more teammates during today’s session in Austria.
As well as Nunez and Diaz, the winning team contained Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Harvey Davies.
Gomez and Konate keeping it tight, Jones and Trent suppling the creativity, and Diaz and Nunez scoring the goals. We like it.
Learning each other’s games
It’s not worth to read too much into who comes out on top during these practice games in training. But it’s certainly encouraging to see Alexander-Arnold, Diaz and Nunez on the same team.
A lot is expected of the partnership between Trent and Darwin in particular. The right-back welcomed the Uruguayan to the club in a fashion that suggested he’s gearing up to supply him with plenty of goals.
The prospect of Nunez getting his head on some of the Scousers delivery’s is an exciting one.
Meanwhile, it’s also vitally important that Diaz and Nunez begin to strike up an understanding, too. They’ll likely be playing together more often than not, and need to figure out each other’s games pretty quickly.
It might be jarring for fans of Porto and Benfica to see, but these two look to be getting along famously, which bodes well.
Seeing as Darwin likes to drift out to the left on occasion, he needs to make sure he and Diaz are on the same wavelength. If they can get the rotation between the two of them right, it could be devastating for Liverpool’s opponents.
All to look forward to and plenty to hone on the training pitches. The early signs are good, though. Keep it going, lads.
