Jurgen Klopp confirmed five Liverpool injuries ahead of their game with RB Salzburg tomorrow. The Reds won’t have a full squad.
Liverpool play RB Salzburg tomorrow in their penultimate friendly. It comes just a few days before the Community Shield against Manchester City, too, with only a game with Strasbourg after that.
Jurgen Klopp, then, is running out of time to try new things. We can’t imagine there will be too much tinkering at the King Power vs City, after all, and the Strasbourg friendly is literally the next day – the Reds won’t put out their strongest side.
It’s a bit of a shame for Klopp, then, that so many first-team players won’t be available against Salzburg. The boss ruled out five on Tuesday, confirming some injuries that haven’t quite gone away.
“Obviously Diogo [Jota] is not here, that’s clear,” said Klopp, per Liverpoolfc.com. “But from the boys who are injured but are here, Ali is the closest – definitely not for Salzburg but then we will see.
“He is close to getting back I think.”
Liverpool have injuries ahead of RB Salzburg
Now, Klopp only mentioned two players by name there – Jota and Alisson – but he mentions that the other injured players aren’t even as close as the Brazilian. And Alisson isn’t fit enough to play.
Liverpool’s website gives us a handy list of who those injured players are and it’s safe to say that they’d all feature tomorrow if fit.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started pre-season but picked up a muscle injury. He’s still not quite ready to go. Calvin Ramsay is another who won’t feature and, unfortunately, injury has kept him out for the entirety of pre-season.
The last is Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpool’s no.2 goalkeeper. With both him and Alisson missing, it should be another start for Adrian between the sticks.
