'Let's not forget': Robbie Fowler has 'no doubt' that Klopp will make one Liverpool player 'thrive' this season

Robbie Fowler sounds absolutely certain that Jurgen Klopp will improve Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan made a statement this week.

Darwin Nunez silenced his pre-season critics as well as he possibly could with a display against RB Leipzig on Thursday. The striker scored his first, second, third and fourth goals in Red since moving from Benfica this summer.

Liverpool, then, have little to worry about. Some had poked fun at Nunez after two lacklustre performances to kick-off his pre-season – especially with such a gigantic fee hanging over his head.

But as it turns out, the player who scored 32 times across the Primeira Liga and Champions League last season does, in fact, know how to score goals. It’s almost as though Liverpool know what they’re doing.

One former Red who also knows how to score goals is Robbie Fowler and he’s growing more and more excited by Nunez. God feels the player will thrive at Liverpool – and only improve under Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp will improve Darwin Nunez

“Nunez has the sort of stats to suggest he’s got the ability and mentality to fit in and thrive at Liverpool,” Fowler told the Mirror. “The club did extensive homework on him, as they do with all their signings, so I’m certain he’ll play a big part when he fully settles in.

“And let’s not forget either that he’s working with one of the greatest managers around.

“Klopp has got a history of making players better. He did it with Sadio Mané and with a host of players when he was in charge at Borussia Dortmund. And I’ve got no doubt at all that he’ll improve Nunez.”

It’s honestly one of the most exciting things about any player that joins Liverpool. Klopp invariably improves them, finding ways to improve their game through training or the playing style.

It happened with Mané, as Fowler points out, and it happened with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz. And those are just the forwards.

Nunez, at 23, has plenty of room to improve anyway and that was one of the reasons his signing always made sense. Put that potential in the hands of Klopp, though, and you could end up with something incredibly special.
