RB Leipzig's official account sends hilarious message to Liverpool about Darwin Nunez after last night's game

RB Leipzig want a rematch with Liverpool after last night’s 5-0 drubbing, but only if Darwin Nunez doesn’t play.

Reacting to Liverpool’s post on Twitter celebrating their four goal hero, the official Leipzig account had a message for their opponents.

“When’s the rematch without Darwin Nunez? That guy is a beast,” they wrote.

Perhaps there’ll be another encounter in next season’s Champions League, guys, don’t worry! We can’t make any promises on the Nunez front though. Keep that up and he’ll be a key man in no time.

Liverpool step up new season preparations

Yesterday’s match was seen as a chance for Liverpool to step up the intensity of their pre-season.

Leipzig are a good side who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last year. But Liverpool swept them aside pretty impressively.

As with The Reds’ 4-0 defeat against Manchester United, not too much should be read into the result. Both teams still have a little way to go until they’re ready for the new season.

Regardless, a 5-0 win at the home of a Champions League team is always cause for optimism.

Liverpool looked a little messy in the first-half as the intensity of the game made finding rhythm difficult. Jurgen Klopp will have perhaps hoped to see a little more cohesion at times, but there’s plenty of time to work on that in Austria.

Instead, the game was all about Nunez. The confidence that the goals will give him could be even more beneficial than any brilliant all-round team performance.

As a striker in this Liverpool team, you’ll always get chances. With the confidence that scoring those chances brings, that could be the difference between The Reds winning and losing on any given day.
