Video: Sadio Mane now scores just 5 minutes into his first game since leaving Liverpool for Bayern

Sadio Mane scored for Bayern Munich last night just five minutes into his first game since leaving Liverpool.

Bayern were taking on DC United in the first game of their tour of the USA. And as seen on their official English language Twitter page, it didn’t take long for the former Liverpool man to get off the mark.

With the German club winning a penalty early doors, it gave Mane the perfect chance. The 30-year-old recently missed an FA Cup final spot-kick for The Reds, but he made no mistake here.

Showing the kind of mentality that has been on display in Liverpool for the last six years, Mane rifled his first chance for his new club high into the top left corner.

Mane off the mark for Bayern

It is a meaningless friendly, and yes, it was a penalty. But it will have still done Mane the world of good to score so early on.

With Robert Lewandowski’s departure for Barcelona finally becoming official, there’s every chance that Mane will be the main man at Bayern next season.

The burden of scoring the goals will certainly fall largely on him, you’d have thought. That will be no problem for Sadio, who has shown that he can handle all sorts of pressure.

He also now doesn’t have to share the spotlight with a Salah or a Lewandowski. Perhaps that will give him the motivation he needs to score even more than he was previously doing for Liverpool.

Either way, it’s certainly mixed feelings for Liverpool fans. Mane left on decent terms with the club, although there were a few strange comments whilst speaking to the press in Senegal.

Regardless, the majority of Reds supporters will be hoping he succeeds in Germany. It’s tough to see him celebrating in another shirt, with different teammates, but he’s a Liverpool legend at the end of the day and he’s immediately showing why he could be such a big loss next season.

Keep em’ coming Sadio!
