Reported Liverpool transfer target Matheus Nunes is preparing himself for a move to England this summer.
That’s according to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha. They claim that Nunes believes he could move to either Chelsea, Liverpool or Wolves ‘at any minute.’
The 23-year-old has reportedly ‘accelerated into pre-season’ in the hope of ‘dispelling the doubts’ of the trio of would-be suitors.
It’s claimed that his ‘body and soul’ are still in Lisbon. However, he is reportedly ready to move at the drop of a hat.
Liverpool in for Nunes?
Liverpool’s interest in Nunes was reported just last week by Jornal de Noticias. Interestingly, it’s once again the same three names who crop up – Chelsea and Wolves alongside Liverpool.
It was reported there that an official bid is yet to arrive from any of the parties. Should one be lodged though, there’s no guarantee it would be accepted as manager Ruben Amorim isn’t keen on losing the player.
From Liverpool’s point of view, Nunes could well be the midfielder they’ve been looking for.
He wouldn’t break the bank, has room for development and would surely be very gettable in terms of wages.
The Reds recent investment in the Portuguese market is also well documented. They’ve clearly been scouting the league heavily. As one of the outstanding midfield performers in the league, Nunes must have shown up on Liverpool’s radar.
On the flip-side, if Liverpool haven’t made a move by now, then perhaps they don’t see the player as worth pursuing.
The Reds like to get their business done early and you’d think that if they really wanted the Portugal international, they’d have got him by now.
