Luis Diaz showed off his brand new blonde look yesterday as he began his first pre-season with Liverpool.

Diaz’s new haircut was on full display as the Colombian bounced back into first-team training with trademark energy.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation since joining Liverpool from Porto in January. With a new look, and a full pre-season under his belt, he’s sure to continue terrorising defences next season.

Watch out Premier League!

Some things never change

Away from the shock of seeing Diaz with blonde curls in his hair, it was good to see that some things never change.

Throughout his football career, James Milner has remained remarkably consistent with his hairstyle.

Milner has been around so long that he’s seen all manner of trends come and go amongst his teammates. But the extravagant styles of Diaz and co simply aren’t for Milly.

There’s something reassuring about seeing Liverpool’s number 7 turn up year after year with the same haircut.

This is the 36-year-old’s favourite time of the season after all. The short-back-and-sides has worked a treat in his previous 20 pre-seasons. So if it ain’t broke, why bother fixing it?

Plenty in the Liverpool squad could learn a thing or two from their vice-captain.

It looks likely to be Milner’s last pre-season at the club, and player’s young and old should glean as much as they can from the veteran.

Having said that, that was very much the case last season, too. Milner looked ready to leave the club this summer after seeing his on-pitch influence reduce slightly.

Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp was able to convince him to stick around for an eighth season at Anfield. It was only a one-year deal in the end, but who’s to say he won’t be rocking up at the AXA with the same efficient style this time next year.
