Ex-Red Stan Collymore wants Raphinha at Liverpool next season. The Brazilian could be on the move this summer.

Former Liverpool striker, Stan Collymore believes the Reds should push to sign Raphinha. The Brazilian is widely expected to leave Leeds United this summer and Collymore sees a future in Red.

It comes as Mohamed Salah enters the final year of his Liverpool contract. Raphinha could be a replacement on the right flank – and there aren’t many who could pull that off.

“Nobody is comparing Raphinha to Salah because you can’t compare anyone to Salah,” said Collymore, per the Mirror. “But he has rapid pace, amazing skills and ability, and he can be polished to score more goals and get more assists.

“If Klopp can do that then, all of a sudden, by this time next year, Liverpool could have an all-new front three and it will be as if people have blinked and not even noticed, which would be amazing.”

Raphinha at Liverpool

We’ve actually banged this drum ourselves earlier in the year. Salah truly could leave Liverpool next summer and there are very few realistic targets who could step up in his place.

Raphinha, with his outstanding ability and fit in the Premier League, is one of those with a chance. But it seems very unlikely at this point.

Arsenal supposedly close in on a deal, per the Athletic, despite seeing an offer rejected. We don’t believe Liverpool could truly rival the Gunners here as they’d be offering Raphinha something entirely different.

Because as things stand, the role is simply a backup one behind Salah. We’re not sure Raphinha would agree to that, especially as the Egyptian could stay longer than one year.

The Leeds man is far too good to throw away a year of his career on the bench. He’s certainly not going to risk locking himself into a place behind Salah for two or three years.

So even if Raphinha is a fine fit for Liverpool – and their interest shows that – it’s simply not a transfer we see happening.
