Adrien Rabiot wants to join Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
That’s according to The Telegraph. They claim that the Juventus midfielder has his heart set on playing in the Premier League and Champions League next season.
Rabiot has reportedly communicated his desire to Juventus, who have ‘agreed’ to his request. Liverpool could reportedly sign the France international for between £13m and £17m.
The 27-year-old is said to be keen to get his future sorted before Juve return for pre-season training on July 11th. Any negotiations to that effect are yet to take place, though.
An interesting option for Liverpool
This is quite an interesting story, actually. Liverpool have been rumoured to have been in for Rabiot on the past (L’Equipe), so it’s likely that his talents are on The Reds’ radar to some degree.
The price being quoted is almost ludicrously low for a player of Rabiot’s quality, and Liverpool could do with a midfielder.
That being said, Liverpool are reportedly uninterested in making stop-gap signings. If Rabiot wasn’t being signed as a stop-gap, he’d merely be signed as a squad player instead.
He’s a very good player, Andrea Pirlo once even called him a ‘complete player’ via Goal. But it seems unlikely that he’d command a starting place in this Liverpool team.
PSG also notoriously had difficulties when handling his representative, who happens to be his mother. The role of back-up at Liverpool doesn’t seem like one that Mrs Rabiot would accept for her son.
Nevertheless, it isn’t often a quality player comes on the market for such a low fee. With it being in a position Liverpool need to strengthen, it might be worth exploring.
