Kostas Tsimikas showed off his new hair on Instagram this week. The Liverpool full-back has gone for a big change.

Kostas Tsimikas got a new haircut this week – and it’s a big change. The left-back took to Instagram to show it off and he’s unrecognisable without a second glance.

Clearly, Tsimikas fancied something very different for year number three at Liverpool. Though, we’ll see if this one lasts longer than Trent Alexander-Arnold’s attempts to shake things up this time in 2021.

A new look for Tsimikas, then, after a fantastic second season with Liverpool. To say things improved on his debut campaign would be a gross understatement, in fact.

The left-back went from barely playing across the 2020/21 campaign to show that he’s actually one of the best in his position. That sounds like hyperbole but Tsimikas put serious pressure on Andy Robertson last season – we didn’t think anyone could do that.

The biggest compliment we could pay Tsimikas is that we wouldn’t have been worried if Klopp had picked him for the Champions League final. He was that good and some of his performances were particularly notable towards the end of the season.

And this from a player who managed six Premier League minutes in that first season. Liverpool trusted him and Tsimikas more than repaid that faith.

The question now is how long will Tsimikas stick around? He’s undoubtedly too good to play backup and we believe pretty much every other Premier League side would start him. Is he content playing second fiddle for much longer?

It’s something Liverpool and Tsimikas will likely revisit in a year’s time. But until then, we expect another fantastic season from the 26-year-old as he attempts to finally wrestle that left-back spot away from Robertson.
