Report: Liverpool now have five clubs hoping to sign their 'incredible' player

There are now five clubs hoping to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool, according to reports. The Japan international is in demand.

This comes from the Liverpool Echo. They claim five clubs are hoping to sign Takumi Minamino this summer.

The forward is very much available after only really getting minutes in the cup competitions last season. Liverpool plainly don’t have room for Minamino to play regularly and believe his efforts in those cup competitions could drive a decent sale.

The price tag on Minamino is now £17m – nearly £10m more than Liverpool paid for him. And the plethora of clubs hoping to sign the player suggests the Reds will get their money.

AS Monaco and Atalanta apparently lead the chase as things stand. Leeds United and Southampton are both considering offers, however, thanks to links with Minamino.

The Saints, of course, had him on loan in 2021 and see the chance to make it a permanent move. Leeds boss Jesse Marsch worked with Minamino at RB Salzburg to great effect and feels he could replicate that form at Elland Road.

Then there’s Wolverhampton Wanderers. They’ve got Hwang-Hee Chan in their ranks right now – someone who formed an excellent front-three with Minamino and Erling Haaland at Salzburg.

This one seems very likely, then. Minamino’s efforts to help Liverpool win the EFL and FA Cups last season showed his quality and we’re not surprised that clubs are lining up to get him.

£17m will represent fantastic business for Liverpool, while at the same time offering a potential bargain to buying clubs. Minamino is a fantastically talented player, after all, as he showed in front of goal last season.

While we’ll be sad to see him leave, a transfer suits absolutely everyone involved and we expect something will go through in the coming weeks.
