Daniel Sturridge has claimed that Liverpool owners FSG ‘chose a club like their city’ after visiting Boston last night.
The former Liverpool striker took to Twitter to document his visit to watch the Boston Celtics at the TD Arena.
Comparing the energy in the arena to that at Anfield, Sturridge said he could why FSG chose to take over at Liverpool.
“It’s nuts man,” wrote the 32-year-old. “The closest energy I get in an arena /stadium to Anfield is the TD garden in Boston. FSG chose a club like their city. The atmosphere is top tier right now!”
Sturridge still searching for a club
After leaving Australian side Perth Glory earlier this month, it looks as though Sturridge is enjoying a break in the off-season.
It has now been three years since he played at the top level. As age starts to catch up with him, it unfortunately seems unlikely that we’ll get the chance to see him playing in a big league again.
Whatever his personal circumstances though, Sturridge’s affection for Liverpool always comes through clearly.
The striker has played for seven different sides in his career, including coming through the ranks at Manchester City.
But despite that, it’s Liverpool who he obviously retains the most feeling for.
As he struggles to find a club to join, it would be a nice gesture from the club if Sturridge could perhaps build his fitness by training at the AXA Training Centre.
Some may not agree with such an approach, but to see a once great striker out of the game once again is a real shame.
Aside from a handful of players, Sturridge is one of the best strikers Liverpool have had this century. If he still has hopes of joining a new club for 2022/23, it would be brilliant to see the club help him out with that.
