Liverpool should pass up £15m for Neco Williams as they can get so much more in a year - RTK View

Liverpool should pass up getting £15m for Neco Williams this summer. They’ll make more money with a different plan.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Liverpool would like to sell Neco Williams this summer. They think there’s a potential £15m for them there and that would go a little way to paying some of the Darwin Nunez fee.

Though, the Echo now claims that Liverpool wouldn’t entirely be against keeping him. That’s partly down to Jurgen Klopp and co. being so impressed with Williams for Wales.

The full-back is usually on the right, of course, but frequently moves left for his country. That kind of versatility is hard to come by and could make Williams a very useful player down the line.

Perhaps that’s at Liverpool, perhaps that’s elsewhere. What seems certain, though, is that Williams has not defined his true value yet.

Liverpool shouldn’t sell Neco Williams this summer

Williams massively increased his worth in 2022 with his loan to Fulham. He stepped up to play a role as they won the Championship and, understandably, Liverpool saw a potential sale there.

The Welshman isn’t just a talented young player now but one who can consistently deliver at the senior level. That consistency was something Williams wasn’t able to show at Liverpool, of course.

But there’s a pattern with the player. He delivers every single time he steps up, be it with first-team games for Liverpool, playing for Wales or joining Fulham and performing there. The club knows this, too, with Academy manager Alex Inglethorpe saying how ‘fantastic’ Williams has been as an example to the youth setup at Kirkby.

And that’s why we think a loan to a Premier League club makes the most sense right now. Williams keeps increasing his value with every step he takes and giving him this next one could see him dramatically rise in price over the next year.

£15m now would be nice but Liverpool can do better. They’ve got a special talent in Williams and that price could see far too low in a year’s time.
