Liverpool could reportedly cover the initial £64m cost for Darwin Nunez in three sales this summer

Liverpool can reportedly cover the initial cost of Darwin Nunez in just three sales this summer. The Reds have plans to get this done.

Liverpool potentially just broke their transfer record. Per the Athletic, they’ve spent £64m on Darwin Nunez and there’s another potential £20m in add-ons there. If all come to fruition, this is the most expensive investment in the club’s history.

But we’re not quite there yet and really, the add-ons pay for themselves as they’re tied to Liverpool and Nunez’s success. It’s the initial £64m that’s an issue, then, as that on its own is the third most expensive outlay.

The Reds appear to have a way to cover the cost quickly, however. Reports indicate that three sales could do it – if Liverpool get what they want.

The primary sale here would be Sadio Mané. Again per the Athletic, the asking price is £42m and Liverpool believe Bayern Munich will pay that. The Bavarians’ opening offer was considered ‘laughable’, though, so there’s room to improve there.

Bild believe the next bid will be around £35m all-in – we’ll see if that’s enough.

Report in France indicate that Takumi Minamino could be off to AS Monaco, too. That’s the line from Foot Mercato and The Times believe Liverpool expect £17m.

Then there are the loanees – Neco Williams and Nat Phillips. The Liverpool Echo says the Reds are after £15m each there and anyone one of them would help out here.

Selling Mané and two of the other three here would bring in at least £65m – covering the Nunez cost. It’s possible that Liverpool go even further than that and move into a comfortable profit this summer.

For a cost we already believe is justified, Liverpool could make the Nunez figure look like a bargain.
