Three clubs are in talks to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool this summer.
That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims on Twitter that the three teams are ‘exploring’ a potential move for the Liverpool man.
Romano reports that Minamino is certain to leave The Reds during the summer window. The move will reportedly be on a permanent basis, with Liverpool’s price-tag claimed to be ‘around £14.5m.’
None of the interested clubs are named, but the final decision will reportedly rest with Minamino. It’s claimed that the 27-year-old will ‘decide soon.’
Liverpool set to double their money
Minamino’s Anfield exit this summer now feels like it was inevitable. After such a quietly excellent season, he was always going to attract interest.
With Jurgen Klopp unable to guarantee regular football for the Japan international for another year, he needs to find that elsewhere.
Liverpool also look to have designs on spending a bit more money than usual this summer. As a team who tend to spend what they earn, they’ll need to make as much of that back as possible.
It seems as though Taki will be sold for somewhere in the £15m-£20m area. Although not the most eye-catching fee, that would still represent at least a doubling of their money on the 27-year-old.
Minamino can leave Anfield with his head held high. Without his goals last season, there’s no way that Liverpool would have won either the Carabao or FA Cup.
As it turned out, both the bigger prizes evaded them in the end. So, without Taki and his ruthless finishing, The Reds may well have ended a sterling season empty-handed.
His turns in the domestic cups will have to be replaced. Someone’s going to have to step up and fill the Minamino-sized hole in the squad next season. That’ll be easier said than done. Liverpool could miss him more than they realise.
