Report explains Bayern Munich's next bid for Sadio Mané as Liverpool set £42m asking price

Bayern Munich are ready with their next bid for Sadio Mané, according to reports. Liverpool have an asking price in mind.

This comes from Bild. They claim that Bayern Munich have given the go-ahead for their next Sadio Mané bid. The German champions will put around £35m on the table but not all at once.

Instead, this would be €35m upfront and then a further €5m in add-ons. That comes to around £35m – a rise from their previous efforts to sign Mané.

And those previous efforts were reportedly quite embarrassing. Bayern offered £23.5m up front with £6.5m in add-ons, per the Athletic. Those add-ons only triggered if the club won the Champions League and Mané won the Ballon d’Or in each of the following three seasons, however.

Liverpool supposedly described that offer as ‘laughable’.

Bayern, then, have upped their offer but it remains to be seen how attainable the add-ons will be. Even if they’re easily gotten, we’re still not sure this offer gets a ‘yes’.

Again per the Athletic, Liverpool’s asking price is €50m or £42m for them to sell Mané. £7m isn’t exactly a massive difference but there’s no real reason for the Reds to drop their demands.

Mané is, after all, a world-class player and one who put in some of the best football of his career in the season just gone. Liverpool shouldn’t give up such an asset on the cheap.

There’s also the fact that Bayern shot themselves in the foot a little. They’ve openly talked about not selling Robert Lewandowski on the cheap just because he’s in the final year of his contract – that’s something Liverpool can use against them with Mané.

The Reds know Mané’s worth, then, and they’ll want to make sure Bayern pay it. Perhaps the big-money move for Darwin Nunez softens their stance but we’re not sure it will. Instead, we expect this upcoming offer to be rejected.
