Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has been in touch with Liverpool’s Sadio Mané, according to reports. The forward is expected to leave.
This comes from Sky Germany. They claim that Bayern Munich are all-in on signing Sadio Mané and are doing all they can to secure a transfer.
That includes getting manager Julian Nagelsmann in touch with Mané. The report claims that there was a phone call between the two as Nagelsmann attempted to convince the forward to move to Bavaria.
And it certainly appears that things went well. Bayern are confident that Mané wants to join them and they plan on making him the ‘leader’ of their attack. All that’s really left is negotiating a fee.
Liverpool want around £39m for their no.10, with the Reds open to selling as Mané is in the final year of his contract. Bayern hope to secure him for just under £30m, however.
Julian Nagelsmann calls Sadio Mané
It’s a difference in price that they’ll surely make up. Mané is too good of a player for £9m to really make a difference here.
But then, Bayern’s opening bid was described as ‘laughable’ by Liverpool, per the Athletic. It totalled £30m but £6.5m came down to bonuses that only triggered if the club won the Champions League in each of the next three seasons.
And if that wasn’t ridiculous enough, they also required that Mané won the Ballon d’Or in those seasons. Laughable, indeed.
It seems that Liverpool do have the upper hand here, however, and we’re feeling confident that the Reds get the money they want. Of course, we’d rather Mané simply stay but that isn’t likely.
The Senegal star plainly wants a new challenge and Bayern will give him that. Liverpool instead need to focus on a replacement – and they certainly seem to have that sorted.
